Tour Highlights
-
Vrazje lake
Vražje lake (meaning Devil’s lake) rests at an altitude of 1416 m. The average depth is 4 m, with the deepest point at 11 m. It has a very unusual color, which changes with the seasons. There are numerous old folk tales about it, stories which our guides will share with you.
-
Zminje lake
Nestled deep in the forest and surrounded by spruce trees, Zminje Lake (“Snakes Lake”) lies at 1,520 m near the source of Mlinski potok. Once known for its many snakes—now gone—it’s a stunning “mountain eye” with clear, icy water that remains cold even in summer.
-
Riblje lake
Riblje lake (meaning Fish lake) rests at an altitude of 1409 m. What makes this lake especially interesting, other than its beauty, is the ancient Greek necropolis located in its proximity. Called ‘stećak’ (plural 'stećci'), these richly decorated tombstones are under UNESCO protection.
-
Momčilov Grad
Momčilov grad, 8 km from Žabljak on the edge of the Plateau of the Lakes, features the ruins of the 14th-century settlement Pirlitor. It’s named after Duke Momčilo, a legendary hero from folk tales who rode a winged horse, Jabučilo, and carried a sword with eyes.
-
Mt. Sinjajevina
Sinjajevina, the largest mountain massif in northern Montenegro, connects Kolašin and Žabljak. A year-round destination, it offers hiking, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, jeep and quad tours, horseback riding, and more—ideal for outdoor enthusiasts in any season.
